Give the Gift of Environmental and Economic Justice

As a non-profit organization with 501(C)(3) status, BEL depends largely on the public to fund its activities. Your contribution is tax deductible and can be made to support any activity of your choosing, including general operations.

There are a number of planned giving options that can help you realize your own philanthropic goals while ensuring the future financial stability of Black Environmental Leaders Association. Planned gifts benefit BEL and provide you, the donor, with an opportunity to create a lasting legacy for future generations while maximizing the tax benefits of a donation. Your planned gift can help ensure that BEL will continue as stewards of the natural and built environment through collaboration and partnership, to raise awareness and advocate for environmental and economic justice.

Leaving a gift to charity can be the perfect opportunity to reflect on what has been important in your life and what you would like to see supported in the future.  Consider the Black Environmental Leaders Association (BEL) for a legacy gift, as a beneficiary on your life insurance policy and/or when writing out your Last Will and Testament and Living Trust.

Through a legacy gift in your name you become a part of something that will last and help to perpetuate the values that are important to you.  It is also a powerful way to leave a lasting impact.

Please contact [INSERT NAME], by email at [INSERT EMAIL ADDRESS] or by phone at [INSERT TELEPHONE] for more information about making a legacy gift to BEL or to notify us that you have already included BEL in your estate plans.

Legacy Gift

The primary purpose of life insurance is to provide a safety net for those who depend on you financially. The benefit that is paid to your beneficiaries can help them cover daily expenses and even future costs such as college tuition.

A life insurance policy also can allow you to leave a legacy—not just for the people you love but for organizations and causes that are important to you. That’s because a charity can receive the payout from a life insurance policy.

Donating a permanent policy can make sense, depending on your desired financial goals. Your gift will make it to the charity even if you live a long life. That’s because a permanent life insurance policy stays in force throughout your life, as long as you continue to pay premiums. Plus, the organization will have the option of surrendering the policy for cash if you transfer policy ownership.

Donating a life insurance policy is a simple way to leverage your charitable giving. Whether through a lump sum into a whole life insurance policy or one with  smaller monthly or annual premium, by putting the money toward an insurance policy with a sizable benefit, your generosity will be multiplied.
